Tsango and the Doodle Gang

Catching up on scans from over the weekend. Here's a decent one, a sketch of Django that I did based on lower sketches, a few days after watching the original movie. Not really Django, but almost, so I called him Tsango. From, you know, The Stroganoff Western.

This is a pair of doodles I did while watching the movie. Made with a sharpie in the dark, so they're not that great, but a reference nonetheless, I suppose. I really like that jacket he wears when they raid the Mexican fort. The face on these doodles, I think looks more like the flashback Henry Fonda from OUATITW.

I'm trying to decide whether I want to actually base characters on actors' appearances, or whether I want to shoot for approximations and use "types." I'm not using, for example, the character of Colonel Mortimer or Nobody or Blondie/Joe/Manco...but I still think it would be cool to make a comic with familiar faces.
This is my version of Lee Van Cleef and Klaus Kinski done without reference, totally from memory, in an attempt to see what that would be like.

And here is an actual sort of referenced doodle of Krazy Klaus Kinski, from...um...something Killer. He's a lawyer. I haven't gotten a chance to watch it all the way through yet.
